Chikungunya is a viral illness transmitted mainly by infected Aedes mosquitoes (the same mosquitoes that can spread dengue and Zika).

📌Common symptoms

Symptoms usually begin 3–7 days after a mosquito bite and may include:

* Sudden high fever
* Severe joint pain (often hands, wrists, ankles, knees)
* Headache
* Muscle pain
* Rash
* Fatigue

⚠️Joint pain can sometimes last for weeks or even months.

📌How it spreads

* Spread by mosquito bites
* Not usually spread directly person-to-person
* Most common in tropical and subtropical regions
