The Tien Shan Geological Society, Kyrgyzstan, announces the annual International Summer School on Geoheritage, Geology and Climatology under the auspices of UNESCO - “Millions of years before the Silk Road”, which will be held on August 15-28, 2024.

The Tien Shan mountain system is a natural monument of world significance, a natural laboratory created for visual knowledge and reconstruction of the evolution of the Earth. The Tien Shan and Pamir mountains present a variety of landscapes, from semi-deserts to glaciers, reference sections, modern geological processes, unique elements of geodiversity, mineralogy and paleontology.

Tien Shan is a magnificent geological testing ground for study, scientific research and geotourism. The Tien Shan represents the entire history of the Earth, as well as a conglomerate of cultures and civilizations along the Great Silk Road.

The International Summer School invites students, graduate students, young scientists and those wishing to learn geological science to take part in a field trip to the Western Tien Shan of Kyrgyzstan.
The International Summer School has gained popularity and has become a traditional annual event.
In 2021-2023, the summer school was held under the auspices of UNESCO in the Madygen Geopark. In 2024, the trip will take place under the auspices of the UNESCO International Program for Geosciences and Geoparks with a broader geography covering the entire region of the western Tien Shan and the advanced Pamirs. The summer school is dedicated to the International Day of Geodiversity, which was proclaimed by UNESCO and is held annually on October 6.
The summer school is an excellent opportunity to master the skills of field geological research under the guidance of experienced geologists and gain knowledge of geosciences. This is meeting new colleagues, young scientists and students. Summer school is always a warm and friendly relationship between like-minded people with common interests and intentions.

In this regard, we invite young professionals, students, schoolchildren and everyone who wants to learn about the geology of the Tien Shan to take part in the International Summer School - Millions of years before the Silk Road.
