​Two years ago, a light went out in Kenya, leaving a void for a client now living in the US. To honor her grandmother, she didn't just want a tattoo; she wanted a piece of home. After she struggled to find a design that spoke to her, we sat down—across oceans—to breathe life into a memory.
​I put pencil to paper to create a rose that was more than a flower. I wanted it to feel like it grew from the very soil of her grandmother’s legacy. This wasn't just about blending with her skin; it was about anchoring her spirit.
​From Pencil to Permanence​, the journey of this piece was a beautiful, silent collaboration. Hand-sketched in pencil here in my studio and mailed across the Atlantic, carrying a piece of Kenyan artistry. On reaching the US, the talented tattoo artist brought it to life. He literally translated my graphite strokes into a stunning, permanent tribute.
​Memorial tattoos are the art of healing. They allow us to wear our stories on the outside, transforming the heavy weight of loss into a beautiful, visible bloom. I am so grateful to have played a part in this journey. 🙏♥️
