Today, 2nd June 2026, the Commandant RDU, Mr. Godfrey Otunge, CBS, OGW, SAIG, represented the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (DIG-APS), Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, CBS, OGW, SS, in officiating the opening of the Joint Counter Terrorism Training Advisory Team (JCTTAT) Pre-deployment Course No. 2/2026 at the Border Police Training Campus (BPTC), Kitui.
Mr. Otunge arrived at the campus alongside Commandant BPU, Mr. Davies Lomwatu, OGW, HSC, SAIG,Director Training and Research Ms. Bianca Nzioki MBS, psc(R) AIG and Deputy Commandant BPU, Mr. Edward Ochola, OGW, AIG. They were received by the Commandant BPTC, Mr. Kiplangat Chirchir, AIG.
While delivering the DIG-APSβs speech, Mr. Otunge stated that the course, which has drawn participants from BPU G Company, is designed to impart critical skills required for specialized operational duties. In his message, the DIG emphasized: βThe weapon you carry is only as responsible as the mind that controls it. Excellence is not an act but a habit. A river is not strong because of one drop of water, but because of the many drops that flow together.β
The course will equip officers with essential competencies in tactical intelligence, Counter-IED measures, tactical medicine, Forward Operating Base (FOB) fortification, among other specialised areas.
Mr. Otunge encouraged the participants to embrace teamwork, discipline, and professionalism throughout the training period.
Also present were Mr. Mwadzemba Tsuma, SSP, Operations Officer BPU; Officer Commanding Kandologwe Field Training Camp, Mr. Nicholas Ndaisi, ASP; Captain Chris Bonnick a Royal Marines Commando; Flying Officer Josh Daley Bowden of the Royal Air Force Regiment; Mr. Al Laoutaris Royal Marines Commando, among other senior Officers and instructors.
