So What is ANITRAC?
ANITRAC stands for the Animal Identification and Traceability System,it is a national initiative aimed at improving livestock identification, traceability, disease surveillance, and livestock movement monitoring in Kenya.
The system seeks to create a more modern, accountable, and data-driven livestock sector through animal identification and digital record management.
This is expected to play a major role in:
β’ Strengthening animal disease control
β’ Improving food safety
β’ Supporting livestock trade and market access
β’ Enhancing livestock security and traceability
As Kenyaβs livestock sector continues to evolve, awareness and understanding of systems like ANITRAC will become increasingly important for farmers, veterinary professionals, and all livestock stakeholders.
