The Watoto Program
When we come together as a community, we light the world with magic. For every child we educate, we empower our community to stand for itself and create hope for families to have a better future.
Listen to Mercy (16) and Reagan (14), our two Grade 9 students with dreams of becoming environmental journalists, as they tell the story of what it means to have a better, cleaner, and healthier environment. They carry an important message that we should all listen to, bringing our attention to what is happening around us and reminding us that we must stand up and protect our environment.
We were honored to host Øyvind Aadland, together with students from the Intercultural Studies Department at NLA University College, Norway, as we shared conversations on culture, youth, dignity, and the immense potential of young people in Kenya.
With over 73% of our population being youth, the energy, ambition, and dreams we witness every day are a powerful reminder of why investing in young people matters. By honoring cultural roots while embracing progress, we nurture values of compassion, unity, and love that shape a stronger future.
Building understanding across cultures starts with listening, learning, and respect. Culture connects us. Dignity grounds us. Youth inspires us.
We are deeply grateful to Tess for reminding us that when words fail, art speaks. 🎨
Through art therapy, she creates a safe and nurturing space where our students can express big emotions they may not yet have the words for. With no pressure to talk, feelings naturally come out through color, movement, and creativity. This powerful work helps our children feel safe, seen, and supported as they heal and grow.
Thank you, Tess, for walking alongside our learners with such care and compassion. 💛
Meet Victoria, a volunteer who shows up three times a week to walk alongside our Grade 8 and 9 learners as they build confidence in English and discover new ways of learning ✨ When we invest in young people, they rise and they take their communities with them. This is what community-driven education looks like. We are proud to be walking this journey as a community. Thank you, Victoria, for being here with us. We appreciate and value you very much. Asante sana ❤️
