Young people aren’t just the future of this country, they are part of its leadership today. When they step forward to vie for office, they deserve a process that is fair, transparent and accountable.
As we head into the Young Aspirants National Accountability Charter Convention, we’re underscoring one simple truth: a democracy only works when those seeking to lead can do so without fear, barriers or manipulation.
Accountability protects their voice, and in turn, strengthens our institutions.

Representation matters. We want to have more women in various leadership positions. For this to happen, women must feel safe within political spaces.

This is why the national women league convention, implemented by Human Rights MPs as part of the ENoP WYDE political parties project, was important.

We want to ensure that political parties set the pace, by having gender-responsive policy & governance frameworks.

When we asked the women and youth leaders why they want to run for office during our TOT training on inclusive democratic properties, their answers reminded us what true leadership looks like! Its about courage, purpose, and the will to change things for the better for the common mwananchi.
