Gitonga S. Akubu, CEO of the Alcoholic Drinks Control Board, met with staff to review bar licensing in Meru County. He reported that the licensing process is 80% complete, marking a major milestone toward county-wide compliance.

Due to recent procedural adjustments in several sub-counties, the CEO highlighted the importance of field officers building stronger relationships with local clients. He urged the team to engage directly with operators to facilitate a smooth transition under the new guidelines.

Furthermore, the CEO ordered a prompt follow-up on all outstanding payments. He emphasized that business owners must settle dues quickly to avoid enforcement actions or penalties. Mr. Akubu reiterated that proactive outreach and consistent monitoring remain the Board’s primary tools for reaching 100% licensing coverage.
