Jelida Foundation -JF

As schools close for the holiday season, our children spend more time at home and in the community. This is a crucial period where they become more exposed to different social influences β both positive and negative. As a community, we must be intentional in guiding, protecting, and educating our children so they grow up safe, informed, and empowered.
At Jelida Foundation, we believe that protection begins with awareness and open conversations. We call on parents, guardians, teachers, and community members to take the lead in educating children about critical issues affecting their wellbeing β including Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM), and teenage pregnancy. Talking openly about these issues can prevent harm, restore dignity, and give our children the confidence to speak up and seek help when needed.
Beyond awareness and advocacy, we also support families through sustainable economic empowerment. One of our key initiatives is promoting food security through the sale and installation of affordable growbags. These growbags are ideal for kitchen gardens, small spaces, and families looking to reduce household food expenses. We provide both the growbags and professional installation at pocket-friendly prices, helping families grow their own healthy food with ease.
Together, we can build safer homes, stronger communities, and brighter futures for our children.

π± RAISING BOYS, SHAPING TOMORROWβS FATHERS π¦π½π
At Jelida Foundation, we believe change must start early β and it must include boys.
Young boys are the fathers, leaders, and protectors of tomorrow, and what they learn today will define the society we live in tomorrow.
By educating boys from an early age on FGM, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and teenage pregnancy, we are planting values of respect, responsibility, and protection.
A boy who understands these issues grows into a man who stands against harm, respects women and girls, and protects the future of his family and community.
Silence creates ignorance.
Education creates allies.
And informed boys become men who say NO to FGM, NO to GBV, and YES to dignity, equality, and safe childhoods.

π©πΎβπ§πΎ OUR MOTHERS: THE HEART OF CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITIES π
At Jelida Foundation, we recognize that mothers play a powerful role in shaping the future of families and communities. Through love, guidance, and courage, mothers can help end FGM, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Teenage Pregnancy. π±
β¨ The Role of Mothers in Protecting Our Girls:
β’ Teaching daughters their value, dignity, and rights.
β’ Speaking out and refusing harmful practices like FGM.
β’ Guiding children with strong moral values and life skills.
β’ Creating safe spaces where girls can talk openly about challenges.
β’ Encouraging education and supporting girls to stay in school.
β’ Mentoring young mothers and helping them rebuild their future.
When mothers stand firm, communities change. Their voices, protection, and wisdom are key to raising a generation that respects life, dignity, and equality. βπΎπ

π€π ARTISTS MEETING FOR POSITIVE CHANGE β MURIRI, MERU COUNTY ππ€
Yesterday at Muriri in Meru County, a group of talented artists and creatives came together for a productive meeting. The discussion went beyond music and entertainment β it focused on responsibility, values, and the role artists play in shaping society.
Among the artists present was a volunteer of Jelida Foundation, showing how creatives can stand at the frontline in advocating for social change. βπΎ
During the meeting, the artists took time to discuss the moral values and ethics that every artist should uphold, recognizing that musicians are role models whose voices influence the youth and the wider community.
They also explored how music can be used as a powerful platform to educate and inspire society in the fight against harmful practices such as:
π« Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
π« Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM)
π« Teenage Pregnancy
The artists agreed that through lyrics, performances, and public influence, they can spread awareness, promote respect, and help protect girls and young people in our communities.
This meeting proved that music is not just entertainment β it is also a powerful tool for change and community transformation. πΆβ¨
