When the news of two little girls, only 5 and 6 years old abducted, defiled, murdered, and abandoned in a banana plantation broke, what did you feel?

Sadness? Anger? Grief? Or all of these at once?

What happened was not only heart wrenching, but deeply inhuman. Their lives were cut short, futures stolen, and families left to carry an unimaginable burden of grief.

We are left asking: has violence, and defilement in particular, been normalized?

As an organisation working in the Gusii region to uphold children’s rights, we strongly condemn these horrific crimes.

Every child deserves to grow up safe, protected, and free from violence.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and call upon the National Police Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, and all child protection actors to ensure swift investigation, prosecution of perpetrators, and strengthened community safeguarding systems.

We owe it to the children, their families, and our shared humanity to ensure justice prevails.

What does a woman’s 24‑hour day look like compared to a man’s?

Through testimonials, women shared the tasks they shoulder, cooking for the family, cleaning the home, washing clothes, preparing children for school, farming, attending school meetings, and so much more.

And here lies the big question:

Beyond provision, what else do men bring to the table?

Can they meet women halfway?

Which roles are truly for men, and which ones for women?

Let us reflect together on how balance and shared responsibility can reshape our homes and communities

HERE IS A SCENARIO

A woman faces unresolved disputes at home and considers separation. Trusting her pastor, she seeks advice before making such a life-altering decision.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU THINK SHE WILL RECEIVE?

Our engagement with religious leaders is intentional, because they command trust and influence over large congregations.

We want to ensure that the guidance they share strengthens families, upholds dignity, and remains rooted in true religious teachings, not cultural distortions disguised as biblical truths.
