On 29th April 2026, at Ole Sereni in Nairobi, an important step was taken toward strengthening education across the frontier counties.

The Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC), in partnership with EIDU, convened County Executive Committee Members for Education, partners, and technical teams—not only to review progress, but to align on the path ahead.

In just two years, the EIDU ECD Digital Learning Programme has reached approximately 140,000 learners, supported nearly 4,700 teachers, and been implemented in close to 2,400 schools. Classrooms are becoming more engaging and structured, with teachers confidently integrating technology into daily learning, and children responding with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Through collaboration with UNICEF and the Raspberry Pi Foundation, this progress is now extending into Grades 4 to 9—ensuring continuity in digital learning as learners advance through school. Connectivity is improving, teacher capacity is growing, and digital skills are steadily becoming part of everyday education.

The meeting highlighted a strong spirit of partnership and shared commitment. We recognize EIDU’s continued support under the leadership of Managing Director Mr. Fredrick Seda, and the unwavering coordination by FCDC, led by CEO Dr. Idle Farah. The dedication of County Executive Committee Members for Education remains central in driving this agenda forward and ensuring it reflects the realities within their counties.

This collective effort has led to the signing of an addendum extending the partnership for a further three years from May 2026—a decision grounded in trust, demonstrated impact, and a shared vision for the future.

While there is still work to be done in strengthening systems and ensuring sustainability, there is growing confidence that meaningful change is taking root across the frontier counties.
