Young Africans Must Rise With Purpose
On 25/10/2025 at the AYLF Summit, Prof. PLO Lumumba reminded us of a hard truth:
Africa’s future will not be built by those who run from it. But by those who choose to stay, sacrifice, and take responsibility.
We cannot continue asking, “How many from my tribe are in the cabinet?”
We must break free from the ghosts of ethnicity and the comfort of lamentation.
If the politics of a nation fail, society fails — and ignoring politics does not exempt us from its consequences.
Africa is not short of talent. We are short of confidence, coordination, and conviction.
So here is the challenge to every young African:
a. Don’t say you are too young — history proves otherwise.
b. Organize, don’t just agonize
c. Build solutions in your village, your university, your county
d. Use education for transformation, not just certification
e. Stand against any form of tribalism
This is our generation’s assignment.
Not tomorrow — now.
Let us rise. Let us speak the language of progress.
Let us rebuild the continent that believes in the brilliance of its own young people.

The Gen Z Revolution: Redefining Change in Africa and Beyond
As the Gen Z revolution continues to take root across the world and in Africa, with Kenya at the forefront, we find ourselves at a defining moment in history. This is not just about a generational shift; it’s about a values shift.
We are witnessing young people rise not out of rebellion, but out of responsibility. They are questioning old systems, challenging power structures, and demanding accountability. Technology, creativity, and bold expression are their weapons. But the real battle is one of ideas and integrity.
For the political class, this movement means one thing: adapt or be left behind. The language of leadership is changing from control to collaboration, from silence to speaking up, from hierarchy to humanity.
But even as we, the young generation, take the stage, we must ask ourselves:
- Are we truly ready to bring the change we seek?
- Is it the right kind of change, one that heals, unites, and builds?
True transformation doesn’t come from anger alone; it comes from vision, discipline, and love for our people.
So yes, Gen Z is the change. But the challenge is to ensure our revolution is not just loud; it’s lasting.
