Welcome to new Arrivals

01/08/2018

When one family member gets the flu, the whole family is susceptible to the infection too. Despite all your best efforts, not all the members will cover their coughs and sneezes; I usually forget practicing this when I am at home. In addition, the persistent water supply doesn’t help in enticing people to regularly wash their hands. (Where did all the 2018 rainfall water go? If you can help me understand this conundrum, I shall be thankful)
Below are some simple methods you can use to slow down the disease spreading to the rest of the family.
1. Clean your home
In spite of this being obvious, some of you have being skipping it to avoid the dreadful cold water doing it once or twice in a week. Some go a step further in locking down there apartment to prevent the cold from entering into your comfort zone.
Such practices greatly enhance the spread of the diseases. Limited air circulation allows the flu germs a free roam in your home; finding a safe haven in dusty surfaces. Moreover, whenever the infected individuals breathe, they increase the viruses’ quantities deeming it impossible for a quick recovery.
Please open your windows whenever you leave for work and do a bit of tidying up when you return.
2. Practice healthy habits
There is power in a healthy lifestyle. This why most new year’s resolution involve a declaration to start exercising and eating healthy foods. Sadly, most of these affirmations barely see the month of February. Nevertheless, with the common season, it is time to pick up from where you left.
a) Get plenty of sleep. It will allow the body to heal itself.
b) Drinks lots of fluids. Plain clean water is the best as it helps to nourish the lost body fluids and allows the body to filter the toxic waste more easily.
c) Eats lots of fruits and vegetables. Avoid the regular junk food and instead indulge in these nutritious treats. They contain vitamins that are vital in strengthening your immune system.
d) Bath in warm or cold water. The act will allow the body naturally produce more heat in order to cope with the cold. Hot baths only make your body reluctant in producing its own warmth.
e) Exercise regularly. I am not referring you joining a gym. Just run or walk a few kilometers every day. Avoid the nduthis if you can and save some money. A simple walk will go a long way in your long term health
f) Manage your stress. Most diseases are being encouraged by our regular stress. This is due to the body’s distorted harmony rendering it incapable of fighting of the diseases. Buying medication whenever slightly afflicted is worsening the condition.
Finally, if someone in your household is infected, limit the close contact no matter how much love you have for them. I t won’t be forever actually.
Have a blessed day
