---Not my story----

CHAPTER 1 β€” The New Girl

The school gate stood tall in front of her.

Big. Loud. Crowded.

Rose Godson held her bag a little tighter, her heart thudding in her chest. New town. New school. New problems.

She hated being the new girl.

"Deep breath," she whispered to herself and took her first step into Westbridge High.

Everywhere she looked, it was like a movie. Girls in short skirts laughing too loud. Boys tossing basketballs and flirting shamelessly. It was nothing like her old school.

She walked faster, eyes on the ground, trying not to draw attention.

But attention... had already found her.

From across the courtyard, a tall figure leaned against a black motorbike, a cigarette lazily burning between his fingers. He wore a black hoodie, tattoos peeking from under the sleeves. His eyes, dark and unreadable, locked onto her.

Ryan Giovanni.

The school’s bad boy.

Feared by most. Wanted by many.

He blew out smoke slowly, not looking away. And for a second, just one heartbeat, their eyes met.

Rose froze.

Something in his stare made her skin tingle. It wasn’t just curiosity. It was danger.

But she turned away quickly, pretending she hadn’t noticed him.

β€œWatch it!” a voice snapped.

She bumped into someoneβ€”a tall girl with long blonde hair and too much lip gloss. Her name tag read Tess Monroe.

Tess narrowed her eyes at Rose. β€œNew girl, huh? Already causing trouble?”

β€œI’m sorry,” Rose said softly.

Tess gave a fake smile. β€œCute skirt... my grandma has one just like it.”

Girls around her laughed.

Rose blinked, cheeks burning. She didn’t reply. She just walked away quickly, head down.

Welcome to hell, she thought.

β€”

The bell rang.

First class: English Literature.

She walked in and the teacher pointed her to the only empty seatβ€”right next to him.

Ryan.

Oh no.

He didn’t look at her. Just sat there, arms crossed, eyes on the board. Like he didn’t care.

But Rose could feel him. His presence was heavy. Dangerous. Like he knew something no one else did.

β€œHey,” she tried to whisper.

Nothing.

He just reached into his bag and pulled out a notebook, ignoring her completely.

She sighed. Great. First day and I’m invisible.

But as the class went on, she couldn’t stop glancing at him.

He looked... lost.

Like something was eating him up from the inside.

And maybe, just maybe, he looked back once.

β€”

Lunch Time

Rose sat alone under a tree, eating quietly. She hated the noise of the cafeteria. The fake smiles. The whispers.

Suddenly, a soft voice pulled her out of her thoughts.

β€œMind if I sit?”

It was a girl. Short, pretty, with curly hair and warm eyes. She smiled and sat down without waiting for an answer.

β€œI’m Maya,” she said. β€œYou’re Rose, right? New girl?”

Rose nodded. β€œYeah...”

β€œDon’t mind those plastic witches like Tess. She thinks she owns the school. And Ryan,” she added with a small smile, β€œhe never talks to anyone.”

Rose raised her brow. β€œWho is he, anyway?”

Maya chuckled. β€œRyan Giovanni. The school's hottest bad boy. He’s trouble. And he knows it.”

β€œIs he always that cold?”

β€œWorse,” Maya said. β€œBut there’s something about him. Like he’s hiding something deep. People say he got kicked out of two schools. Fights. Problems. You name it.”

Rose blinked. β€œThen why is he here?”

β€œNo one knows,” Maya said. β€œBut if you’re smart, you’ll stay away from him.”

Too late.

Rose had already noticed him.

And something told her… he’d noticed her too.

β€”

After School

Rose walked out of the building, relieved the day was finally over.

But as she walked past the bike park, a voice stopped her in her tracks.

β€œHey.”

She turned.

Ryan.

Still leaning against his bike, arms crossed, eyes unreadable.

β€œYou always walk with your head down?” he asked, voice low and deep.

Rose swallowed. β€œI... I don’t know.”

He smirked, stepping closer. β€œYou should keep your eyes up. People might miss how pretty they are.”

Her heart skipped.

What?

He climbed onto his bike and put on his helmet.

Then, before riding off, he said, β€œSee you around, new girl.”

And just like that, he was gone.

Leaving Rose standing there, confused... and a little breathless.

She was warned to stay away from Ryan Giovanni.

But something told her...

She was already too close.
