Dear GRIPS students
Do you know Hina-matsuri, one of Japanese traditional events? It is held on March 3rd annually to pray for girl’s health and happiness. Families with young girls display a set of Hina-ningyo (ningyo means doll) like this picture which represents nobility’s wedding ceremony more than 1,000 years ago. Many Japanese families star to display Hina-ningyo on the first day of spring in lunar calendar, in 2025 that is February 3rd. In 2023 a big set of Hina-ningyo was donated to GRIPS for the purpose of introducing Japanese culture to international students.
日本人学生の皆様にはお馴染みのおひな様を、留学生と一緒に楽しく飾り付けませんか? 見学だけ、写真を撮るだけでも大歓迎です。本日、ぜひお気軽にSOにお立ち寄りください!
So, we would like our students to experience displaying the dolls and accessories on the red-carpeted stair shelf. You are welcome just to see it or to take photos!
