Do you know what is an Antrolith ?

An antrolith is a calcified mass within the maxillary sinus. The origin of the nidus of calcification may be extrinsic (foreign body in sinus) or intrinsic (stagnant mucus, fungal ball).

Most antroliths are small and asymptomatic. Larger ones may present as a chronic maxillary sinusitis with symptoms like pain and discharge.

In this case for a 57 years old male who was being diagnosed for dental issues this Antrolith was found incidentally..

As no symptoms were related to this finding and the sinus doesn’t look like severely inflamed no treatment is needed .. Observation and follow up ..

Sometimes even inflammatory cysts can cause very aggressive features !! patient came to the clinic complaining from numbness in the lower left side of his chin and lip..
