Meet Mohammed AlHourani, a recent graduate of ReBootKamp (RBK)'s peace accelerator in . Upon graduation, Mo was hired by Rozn as a full-stack developer ☮️

Like so many other youth in Gaza, he had invested 5 years in an engineering degree 🎓

He was probably told by his parents, this was a good investment. True 40 years ago, but an engineering degree today actually REDUCES your chance of employment in the Middle East 🤷🏻‍♂️

The university is a fine place to hang out after high school, but fails to deliver the most important workplace skills - self-awareness, adaptability, divergent thinking, supportive communication and a host of other personal attributes that contribute to success and happiness in today's complex world 🚫

Youth like Mo are being forced into an education system designed to support the 1st and 2nd industrial revolutions ⚙️

We are now approaching the 5th. 5 year olds today possess more technical knowledge than PhDs 40 years ago 🤓

The half life of technical skills have gone from 30 years to 6 meaning the value of knowing how to connect to an API or build a complex database is ultimately heading towards zero ⬇️

OTOH, the value of meta skills is approaching infinity ⬆️

Mo was hired NOT because of his ability to run tickets or fix broken code - he can absolutely do this! 🏃🏻‍♂️

He was hired because he now possesses the NON-TECHNICAL skills required to drive businesses forward 💪

These are the exact same skills required to stitch back the torn fabric of Mo's community 🧵

These are fundamentally leadership skills 🎩

Meet Ahmed Azzam in Gaza. A recent alumni of ReBootKamp (RBK)s accelerator, Ahmed was hired shortly after graduation by Al Safi Trade to manage their IT network 🎬

A job...a GOOD job...in Gaza, where youth unemployment is 80%, is a solid hook for this story 📕

But there is a better one: how a generalist triumphs in a specialized world 🏆

Ahmed has done quite a bit of sampling 🕺🏻

He has degrees in physics and electrical engineering ⚡

He has worked as a science writer, in sales, in the investment industry, for Careem (Uber) and other odd jobs 🔨

He is an accomplished gamer and part of a global community of players he communes with when there is power 🕹️

During the wars, he volunteers as a paramedic 🚑

And now, a software engineer 🧑🏻‍💻

All of this before the tender age of 26 ⏳

Despite living in a place of scarcity and fierce competition for resources, Ahmed has amassed a range of experience not unlike his privileged gaming partners in Austin, Berlin or Canberra 🇦🇺

And it's paid off. A good job. Multiple offers. Participation in the global digital economy in his mid 20s...Ahmed is on his way up 🚀

His diverse experience gives him a unique and valuable perspective in a highly complex world 🧮

He can see around corners and triangulate from many satellites 🛰️

Range is his hack 🎯

At RBK, he learned the meta-skills necessary for next-level management and ultimately, leadership 🎩

Unable to speak English before RBK, Ahmed now converses fluently with international business associates 🗣️

Meet Eman Hussein. Professional handball athlete. Software engineer. Soothsayer 🤾🏻‍♀️

That's right, Eman can predict the future 🔮

Years of practice have given her the ability to know exactly where the ball will end up before it even leaves her opponent's hand 🏐

This is called intuition and it's one of life's ultimate superpowers 💪

Eman approached learning to program with the same mindset and intensity that took her to the top of her sport 👩🏻‍💻

Through 1,500 hours of training at ReBootKamp (RBK), she developed perspective and the ability to see over the horizon 🌍

Her ability to predict the right path to a complex problem is a function of her struggle and investment in logic and self-awareness 🧘🏻‍♀️

And despite no previous programming experience, she now stands on the winner's podium 🏆

In this case, the podium was landing her dream job at Hello World Kids 🧒🏻👦🏻

هذا صحيح ، تستطيع إيمان التنبؤ بالمستقبل 🔮

بعد سنوات من التدريب اصبح لديها القدرة على معرفة أين ستنتهي الكرة بالضبط قبل أن تترك يد خصمها 🏐

هذا يسمى الحدس وهو أحد القوى الخارقة في الحياة

اقتربت إيمان من تعلم البرمجة بنفس العقلية والشدة التي قادتها إلى قمة رياضتها 👩🏻‍💻

من خلال 1500 ساعة من التدريب في ReBootKamp (RBK) ، طورت المنظور والقدرة على الرؤية في الأفق 🌍

قدرتها على التنبؤ بالطريق الصحيح لمشكلة معقدة هي نتيجة نضالها واستثمارها في المنطق والوعي الذاتي 🧘🏻‍♀️

وعلى الرغم من عدم وجود خبرة سابقة في البرمجة ، إلا أنها تقف الآن على منصة الفائزين
