شو هو الـ FIP؟ 🦠
الـ FIP بسببه فيروس "كورونا القطط" الشائع (FCoV). عند أغلب القطط، الفيروس بضل بالأمعاء وما بيأذي، بس عند 5-10% من القطط، هاد الفيروس بيتحوّر وبتحوّل لمرض "التهاب البريتون المعدي" (FIP).
عشان هيك، في قطط كتير ممكن تطلع نتيجتها "إيجابية" للفيروس بس لسه ما تحوّر ولا بلش يظهر عليها أعراض المرض!

شغلات لازم تنتبهوا عليها: 🕵🏽‍♂️
حرارة عالية ومستمرة "بدون سبب واضح" وما بتنزل مع المضادات الحيوية.
خمول مفاجئ أو فقدان شهية.
تأخر بالنمو أو فقدان وزن (خاصة عند القطط الصغيرة).
عيون مغبشة أو تغير بلون قزحية العين.
فقدان توازن أو مشية "مهزوزة".

المرض بطل "حكم بالإعدام" زي زمان. صح العلاج الأساسي لسه بإجراءات الموافقة الرسمية بكتير مناطق، بس هو فعّال جداً. السر كله إننا نبلش علاج بكير؛ كل ما بلشنا أسرع، كل ما زادت نسبة النجاة (واللي وصلت حالياً لـ 80-90% مع الالتزام بالعلاج).

What it is: 🦠
FIP is caused by a common feline coronavirus (FCoV). In most cats, the virus stays in the gut, but in about 5-10%, it mutates and becomes the invasive disease known as FIP. That's why lots of cats could test positive for FIP but it hasn't mutated yet to show signs and affect your cat!

Things to watch for: 🕵🏽‍♂️
Persistent, "unexplained" fever that doesn't respond to antibiotics.
Sudden lethargy or loss of appetite.
Stunted growth or weight loss in kittens.
Cloudy eyes or a change in iris color.
Incoordination or "wobbly" walking.

Good news: 😊
It is no longer a death sentence. While the primary treatment is still navigating the final hurdles of FDA/regulatory approval in many regions, it is highly effective. The key is the sooner treatment starts, the higher the survival rate (which is now upwards of 80-90% with treatment).

A sudden change in personality—like a social dog hiding or an independent dog becoming "velcro"—is often the first sign of internal pain.

Panting at Rest: 👅
Heavy breathing when it’s not hot and the dog hasn't been exercising is a major red flag for heart issues, high blood pressure, or extreme pain.

Foul Breath: 🦷
It’s not just "dog breath." A sweet, fruity smell can indicate diabetes, while a urine-like smell can indicate kidney failure.

Drastic Thirst: 🚰
If you’re refilling the water bowl significantly more than usual, it could be a sign of Cushing’s disease or kidney issues.
