A question we get from funders, almost monthly: when will you scale?

Our answer hasn’t changed in a while: probably never — not in the way you mean.

Some work compounds when you replicate it. Some work loses its meaning the moment you try. The work we do is in the second category.

One neighbourhood. Done well. Slowly. That’s the brief.

سؤال بسألونا إياه الممولين، تقريباً كل شهر: إيمتى رح توسّعوا؟

جوابنا ما تغيّر من فترة: على الأغلب أبداً — مش بالطريقة اللي ببالكم.

في شغل بزيد قيمته لمّا تكرّره. وفي شغل بفقد معناه بأوّل لحظة بتحاول تكرّره. شغلنا بالنّوع الثاني.

حارة وحدة. مظبوطة. ببطء. هاد الـ brief.

A word we use carefully, because too many people use it loosely.

Cohesion isn’t agreement. It isn’t shared values. It isn’t even friendliness.

Cohesion is the practiced ability to disagree — in public, on hard things, with people you will see again tomorrow.

That practice is built somewhere. Usually somewhere small.

كلمة بنستخدمها بحذر، لأنّ كتير ناس بستخدموها بدون حذر.

التماسك مش اتفاق. مش قيم مشتركة. ولا حتى لطافة.

التماسك هو القدرة المُمارَسة على الاختلاف — بالعلن، على الصعب، مع ناس رح تشوفهم بكرا.

وهالممارسة بتنبني بمكان. عادةً مكان صغير.
