Please follow the diversion route this Saturday for the farmers market at Le Tacheron.
Or walk, cycle or catch the bus
Thank you so much for your support. The last market attracted a significant number of visitors, and we recognise that this brought increased activity both at the event and on surrounding roads. To help things run smoothly for everyone, we've made a few changes to our traffic management. The honorary police have been excellent in assisting us and are now implementing an improved one-way system: entry will be from the North (near the Zoo) and exit out towards Maufant, keeping clear of the Victoria Village area. We'll share further details soon, and kindly ask that all visitors observe this system.
We'd also appreciate your help in reducing the number of cars arriving at the site. If you are able to walk, cycle, take the bus or car share, your efforts will make a difference and are appreciated.
Just a reminder: markets will run every other Saturday throughout the summer, from 10:00 to 14:00. We encourage you to spread your visits across the morning and market dates, so that everyone can enjoy the event at their own pace - while continuing to support our local growers.
Thank you again for being part of the community and making these markets so special.

Heatwave Safety Advice for Islanders
Temperatures are going to be very high for the next couple of days. During this heatwave, please take extra care and look out for those who may be more vulnerable—especially elderly neighbours, friends, and relatives.
☀️To beat the heat, follow these simple steps:
- Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day and when UV levels are highest
- Take cool baths or showers
- Drink plenty of water; avoid alcohol and caffeine
- Keep your home cool: close curtains, open windows, and use fans
- Wear light, loose clothing and a wide-brimmed hat
- Apply sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) before going outside
🎓 Schools Information
- Decisions on school opening hours or adjustments to the school day are taken by individual headteachers, who will communicate directly with parents.
- Please check your email and the school’s social media channels for updates.
🔥 Fire Safety Reminders
- Use BBQs responsibly – don’t use them on balconies
- Never put hot disposable BBQs in bins – allow them to cool completely
- Do not light bonfires—there is an increased risk of land fires
- Dispose of glass carefully - it can start fires in dry conditions
🌊 Beach and Sea Safety
- Always check tide times before swimming
- Be aware of currents and swell
- Choose beaches with RNLI lifeguard patrols where possible
