At Bay Shellfish, oyster farming is a true family affair.

Run by Peter, Maria and Nerissa, we’re Jersey’s smallest oyster farm, with each member of the family playing a vital role in the day-to-day running of the business. Pictured here are Peter and Nerissa but Bay Shellfish wouldn’t be what it is without Maria’s hard work and oversight which she brings through her wide knowledge as a Marine Biologist.

Together, we personally rear every oyster by hand, caring for them through every stage of their journey in Jersey’s waters.

We exclusively farm triploid oysters, which are sterile and unable to reproduce or spread elsewhere around the island, helping us farm responsibly while protecting the local biodiversity.

Small in size but big on passion, we’re proud to produce oysters that reflect the quality, care and character of Jersey’s coastline.

We’re also delighted to be featured in the new Field to Fork exhibition at Hamptonne celebrating Jersey’s farming community, from oyster farmers and potato growers to tomato producers, poultry keepers and cattle farmers. It was such a pleasure to be part of the soft launch of the Jersey Farmers Markets over the weekend at the RJA Summer Fair.

We loved meeting so many people, sharing our passion for local seafood and being involved in such a fantastic community event.
