Recently we took part in WaCoOr (Proof of Concept for data-driven management of the glass collection process), a new 12-month R&D project. ♻️

ESTECO is taking steps to optimize urban waste management in collaboration with AcegasApsAmga. Through WaCoOr, we are transforming standard glass collection bins into ""smart containers"" equipped with IoT sensors that monitor fill levels, temperature and other key variables in real-time.
This project is funded by the Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia under the PR FESR 2021-2027 program, falling within the ""Smart Factory and Sustainable Development"" strategy. Learn more 👉

Today, we’re introducing Derrick Onley, who joined us in March 2024. Derrick brings a unique and powerful blend of expertise to our team. Having studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina, he later paired his engineering roots with an Associate Degree in Computer Technology. This dual background makes him a perfect fit for bridging the gap between complex engineering workflows and the software systems that empower them.

🏔️ When he isn't helping optimize technology, Derrick keeps busy with some inspiring goals: he is on a mission to visit every single US National Park! But you can also find him discovering new corners of his hometown, Charleston, or reading narrative non-fiction. 📚
