Meet Carlos, a WFP driver in Venezuela. Carlos has lived in La Guaira for more than 20 years. When the earthquakes struck, he wasn't only responding as a member of the WFP team, he was also one of the people directly affected by the disaster.

After ensuring his family's safety, Carlos returned to support the response, helping deliver assistance to communities.

Today, Carlos shares his experience as a reminder of the power of humanitarian action, and of the people who step forward to help their communities when they need it most 💙

📍Gaza. Every day, WFP provides around 250,000 hot meals in Gaza, mainly in hard-to-reach camps where families struggle to access cooking fuel and store food.

But just a few hundred meters from the shifting line of Israeli military control, people are being forced to move again and are at risk of losing access to basic services and assistance.

WFP will continue working to reach people in need, but we need a safe environment to do it.

Atika has expanded her rice-processing business, from growing small quantities to purchasing bags of paddy rice, building a brighter future for her family.

📍La Guaira, Venezuela. After the earthquakes, Yamileth and her neighbours still have a place where they can cook, and they are using it to help feed their community.

WFP delivered one month of food assistance, so families can prepare meals while markets, jobs and daily life begin to recover.

WFP is scaling up support in the areas hardest-hit by the quakes, working with partners to help families meet urgent needs and avoid being pushed deeper into food insecurity.

Because recovery takes time, and families need support beyond the first days of an emergency.

🚨Venezuela. WFP has begun emergency food distributions to families in the areas hit hardest by the earthquakes.

Access to food was already a top concern for 80% of people before the disaster.
