Milwaukee's War Memorial and Art Museum, completed in 1957, was designed by the Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen. The building's right-angled forms were executed in muscular, exposed concrete, with the entire structure cantilevered out from support columns on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan.
