Why do so many Roman cities look the same? 👀🏛️
Because the Romans weren’t just architects — they were soldiers.
When Rome conquered a new territory, the first thing they built was often a military camp. And when that camp became a permanent settlement, its layout remained almost unchanged.
Everything was organized around two main streets:
⚔️ The Cardo, running north to south
⚔️ The Decumanus, running east to west
Where these two roads met, the forum emerged: the political, economic, religious, and social heart of the city.
This system was repeated across the empire, from Britain to North Africa and from Spain to the Middle East.
Efficient. Practical. Easy to replicate.
The Roman Empire didn’t just spread its armies. It spread an urban blueprint that can still be recognized in many cities today.
After carefully inspecting the ruins, we can confirm that Ancient Rome is still ancient. 👀🏛️
The temples are old.
The columns are old.
The empire is still gone.
Our work here is done.
Time for an Aperol Spritz. 🍊🍹
There is a place in Rome where fresh flowers still appear almost every day for a man who died more than 2,000 years ago. 🌹🏛️
This is the Temple of Julius Caesar, built on the very spot where his body was cremated after his assassination in 44 BC.
Soon after his death, the Roman Senate declared Caesar a god — the first Roman citizen ever officially deified. 👀
What followed was more than a temple. It became a symbol of power, memory, and political influence that shaped the future of Rome.
And even today, visitors continue to leave flowers at the altar.
Some legacies never truly disappear.
