It travelled without me.

There is a strange moment when a painting leaves your studio.
It no longer belongs to the silence in which it was created.
It stands under different lights.
In different hands.
In front of people who do not know the conversations that happened between brush and canvas.
This one travelled to Dubai.
I was not there.
Perhaps that made it more honest.
The work had to stand on its own — without explanation, without the artist beside it.
Under those lights, it carried its own voice.
Paintings have their own journeys.
Sometimes they travel further than we do
