As part of the Inspiring Girls project promoted by ValoreD, Silvia Peppoloni, geologist at INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), President of the IAPG (International Association for Promoting Geoethics) and Chair of the IUGS Commission on Geoethics, has been invited as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) role model to meet primary school students at the Deutsche Schule Rom on the occasion of Earth Day 2026.
During the meeting, Silvia Peppoloni will share with the children her personal and professional journey, explaining how her passion for geology began and highlighting the challenges and rewards that characterize the work of an Earth scientist.
The initiative will represent a moment of inspiration and guidance, aimed at encouraging scientific curiosity from an early age and helping to overcome gender stereotypes related to STEM disciplines. The meeting will take place in conjunction with Earth Day, promoting environmental awareness and responsibility towards the planet, while offering young students concrete examples of commitment, passion, and dedication in the world of science.
