Victory over the flesh and worldly passion does not happen by accident; it does not come by magic. The child of God must consciously subdue the flesh and its desires, giving credence to the finished work of Christ on Mount Calvary. The flesh is an enemy that must be subdued and mortified on a daily basis.

When we were unbelievers we had a lifestyle which conformed to the patterns of this present world. We had no fear of God and were careless to the leading of the spirit of grace. Our lust was the uttermost dictator in our lives and our ego boasted of so many vain things. Today, the Word of God calls our attention back to the fact that we are no more what we used to be. We are called obedient children because we have obeyed the voice of grace calling us unto repentance and faith.
