On this day in 1982, GBH (originally known as Charged GBH) released their debut studio album, City Baby Attacked by Rats. A defining release of the UK82 hardcore punk movement, the record is raw, relentless, and unapologetically intense from start to finish.

Clocking in at just over 30 minutes, the album dives straight into a barrage of fast, distorted riffs, pounding drums, and Colin Abrahall’s snarling vocals. Tracks like “Time Bomb,” “Sick Boy,” and the title track showcase the band’s breakneck pace and gritty energy, blending classic punk drive with heavier elements that would later influence thrash metal.
