La traumatica rimozione di una parte così importante di sé aveva cambiato Giglio Tigrato, nel corpo e nella mente. Il suo ventre aveva cambiato forma, ma mentre noi la vedevamo ancora più bella di prima lei si percepiva diversamente: le cicatrici facevano ormai parte di lei, ed erano davvero poco evidenti, ma lei le vedeva e ne soffriva. Non si riconosceva più, si sentiva inadeguata.

Fu poco dopo Natale che decise di prendere in mano la situazione e chiamarmi con la richiesta più emozionante della mia vita: “Aiutami a trasformare queste cicatrici in arte”.

That traumatic removal of such an important part of herself had changed Tiger Lily in her body and in her mind. Her belly had changed its shape, but while we all around her saw her even more beautiful than before she perceived herself differently. The scars over her belly were part of her at that point, but they were so small and really not very evident, but she could see them and she suffered from this. She wasn’t able anymore to recognise herself, she felt inadequate.

It was shortly after Christmas that she decided to take the lead of the issue and called me with the most emotional request I had ever received in my life: “Help me to turn these scars into art”.
