Abitare

C’è qualcosa di profondamente personale nel lavoro di , di intimo e al tempo stesso autenticamente femminile. Non è una questione di garbo decorativo, di eleganza cromatica o di codici formali che attingono al mondo floreale e botanico. La leva creativa è solo lo strumento attraverso cui la designer rende visibile l’essenziale: la vita che sboccia tra i petali di un giglio, la cura che si fa gesto attento nell’ordito di un tessuto, l’indulgenza che riconosce il valore di una superficie imperfetta a definire il suo linguaggio. Ceramica, metallo, lana «sono materiali che raccontano non solo il modo in cui l’oggetto entra il relazione con lo spazio, ma anche con il corpo: come lo si impugna, come ci si accomoda», quasi fosse un abito.

There is something deeply personal in the work of Conie Vallese, something intimate and at the same time authentically feminine. It is not a question of decorative grace, of elegant colouring or formal codes that draw on the world of plants and flowers. Her creativity is just the means by which the designer makes visible the essential: the life that blossoms between the petals of a lily, the care that turns into attentive gesture in the warp of a textile, the indulgence that recognizes the value of an imperfect surface in defining her language. Ceramics, metal and wool “are materials that speak of the way in which the object enters into relationship not only with space, but also with the body: how it is held, how it is sat on,” as if it were an item of clothing.

L’abitazione realizzate da Daria Sheina nelle foreste dell’isola di Keats, posta all’apertura della baia di Howe, a circa trenta km da Vancouver, è stata completata in due giorni a partire da elementi prefabbricati con una tecnologia CLT trasportati in loco prima via nave e poi in elicottero. Sviluppata su tre livelli, la casa massimizza la superficie edificabile giocando con l’interazione tra i due volumi geometrici ruotati che permette di ottenere una copertura trasparente, aperta verso il cielo, e una porzione di superficie inclinata perfetta per l’allocazione dell’impianto fotovoltaico. La struttura, completamente realizzata in pannelli di legno massiccio senza uso di acciaio, è rivestita di cedro rosso occidentale che, con la patina del tempo, prenderà il colore dei tronchi delle conifere circostanti. Autosufficiente energeticamente, presenta interni minimalisti caratterizzati da finiture di legno a vista e pavimenti in Marmoleum verde che riprendono il colore del muschio esterno.

The house constructed by Daria Sheina in the forest on Keats Island, located at the mouth of Howe Sound about thirty kilometres from Vancouver, was built in just two days from prefabricated elements made using CLT technology and transported to the site first by barge and then by helicopter. On its three levels, the house maximizes the area available for construction through the interplay of two rotated geometric volumes that creates a transparent roof opening towards the sky as well as an inclined surface perfectly suited for the installation of the photovoltaic system. The structure, built entirely from panels of mass timber without the use of any steel, is clad in Western red cedar that will take on the colour of the trunks of the surrounding conifer trees as it ages. Self-sufficient in energy, the cabin features minimalist interiors that are characterized by finishes of exposed wood and floors of green Marmoleum that echo the colour of the moss outside.
