Level 0 — The Lab

Welcome to the place where the exploration of MCM’s past and future begins.

Conceived as a laboratory orbiting through the galaxy, THE LAB brings together the history of the brand and a series of limited-edition objects designed by Atelier Biagetti.
Imagined as tools to explore and inhabit new planets, these objects travel through time and project themselves into the future:

Orbit — a companion robot-pouf;
Gravity — a training weight for a body in zero gravity;
Mach-1 — a helmet to cross the speed of sound;
Alphabet — a collection of Bauhaus-inspired candles conceived as small lights to keep our coordinates during starry nights.

The atmosphere is shaped by a sound composition made of acoustic signals, protocols and spatialized mechanical rhythms, evoking a technological environment orbiting through space.

From here, the exhibition unfolds across two further levels, imagined like a video game: the Rotonda del Pellegrini becomes a spacecraft crossing different worlds.

Level 1 — DISCO MARS opens into a roller-skating rink animated by a robot DJ, where disco energy, human bodies and robotic presences coexist.

Level 2 — DIVA DOME becomes a ritual space in zero gravity, where the operatic voice enters an almost post-human dimension, becoming a portal between past and future.

“With Disco on Mars we wanted to explore the aesthetics of space travel and turn them into a metaphor for freedom. Objects are not merely products, but collectible narrative devices, memories of a possible future, elements to be explored and activated, while sound unfolds as an invisible architecture, shaping the spatial experience.”
