On the 4th anniversary of the Russian aggression of Ukraine, Assayas's movie THE WIZARD OF KREMLIN is partly deceiving: it is not comparable to a genuine Russian movie concerning post-soviet times (like Serebrennikov's LETO, for example), because the screenplay is based on Da Empoli's & Carrère's work, both of them who didn't experience integrally such a period of transition. Moreover, it is not very successful in the movie the attempt to outline a psychobiography of Putin: it is a implausible that a simple advisor (the "wizard") can transform a simple FSB spy into a merciless dictator. It would be useful to read Vamik Volkan's psychobiography of Putin in his chapter of the book Why War in Ukraine and in Europe (available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/UKRAINE-EUROPE-PSYCHOANALYSIS-TRAUMA-RESILIENCY/dp/8897479421 )
