Mutina

Emisferi by Note (design studio) is the new three-dimensional element designed by the Swedish studio for Mutina, transforming the wall into a vibrant, rhythmic, and permeable surface. The project originates from a primary form, the hemisphere, reinterpreted as a compositional unit capable of creating depth, plays of light and shadow, and relationships between solids and voids.⁠

For the fifth edition of the Festival des Cabanes, held at Villa Medici in Rome, Mutina takes part through an installation developed by ECAL Master Product Design students in collaboration with French designer Ronan Bouroullec.⁠

Festival des Cabanes brings together six original creations alongside a multidisciplinary artistic programme at the intersection of architecture and landscape. On this occasion, ECAL and Mutina present Façade, a project designed by ECAL with the collection Fringe by Michael Anastassiades. A single wall becomes architecture, transforming a fragment into a space in its own right — casting shadows, offering a place to pause, and opening a new passage through the landscape. The installation draws inspiration from the tradition of trompe-l’œil, a pictorial technique rooted in antiquity and reinvented during the Renaissance.⁠
