Call for Membership: Establishment of the “Dance Studies Center” at Saye Theater

Saye Theater is pleased to announce the establishment of a dedicated “Dance Studies Center,” aimed at fostering rigorous study and research in the field of dance. This center will focus on a broad spectrum of dance-related subjects, including the exploration of dance theories, the contributions of significant contemporary figures and groups, the study of Iranian folk dance, and the development of new techniques and genres. The center also aims to identify innovative performance platforms and facilities for the future of dance.

We invite those interested in contributing to this pioneering initiative to submit their applications by October 3, 2024. The application form can be found at the link below:

این فراخوان جهت عضوگیری و ایجاد «کانون مطالعات رقص» در تئاتر سایه منتشر می شود. تئاتر سایه در نظر دارد برای مطالعه و پژوهش در حیطه ی رقص این کانون را تأسیس کند. فعالیت اصلی این کانون مطالعه و پژوهش در شاخه های متنوع رقص خواهد بود. این مطالعات شامل نظریه های رقص، فیگورها و گروه های مهم رقص معاصر، مطالعه ی رقص فولکور ایران و خاورمیانه، تکنیک ها و ژانرهای جدید، شناسایی امکانات و پلتفرم های جدید اجرا و .. خواهد بود.

Following the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, Iranian theatre has entered a new phase. Many theatrical groups have refused to perform in government-controlled venues, turning to underground and clandestine forms of performance to express their support for the movement and its goals. This has given rise to new forms of theatre, which can be examined from various perspectives. Saye Theatre has attempted to explore these shifts in artistic perspectives through a four-day seminar featuring seven essays and a conversation panel.

"Walking through the Darkness" is the result of one of Saye's five research committees, which dedicated approximately four months to this project.
