Carl Zeiss India, the Indian subsidiary of the renowned German optics and opto-electronics company Carl Zeiss, has announced plans to begin lens production in India by June 2025.
The company has secured 35 acres of land from the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board for this purpose and is investing Rs 2,500 crore to establish a state-of-the-art lens manufacturing facility.
This factory is poised to become one of Carl Zeiss's largest global facilities, producing a wide range of lenses, including those for vision care, cinema, and photography.
