John Edward Jenkins (born in Bangalore; died 4 June 1910), was a barrister, author and Liberal Party politician in the United Kingdom. He was best known as an author of satirical novels, and also served as the Agent-General of Canada, encouraging emigration to the new Dominion. He contested several parliamentary elections, but won only one, and sat in the House of Commons from 1874 to 1880.

Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi KCSI, CIE, OBE, ICS (died: 15 March 1980) was an Indian administrator and civil servant who served as the first Indian governor of the state of Punjab (then East Punjab) after Independence in 1947. He subsequently served as the first Governor of Andhra Pradesh from its creation in 1953 until 1957.

Kalindi Charan Panigrahi (died: 15 May 1991) was a noted Odia poet, novelist, story writer, dramatist, and essayist. He was one of the members of the Odia literary group Sabuja Goshthi (the Green Group), formed a group in 1920 called “Sabuja Samiti”, along with two of his writer friends Annada Shankar Ray and Baikuntha Patnaik. He was editor of English Journals, Bhanja Pradipa and Mayurbhanja Chronicle. He was honoured with the fellowship of Sahitya Academy in 1971. In the same year, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan by Government of India. In 1976, Sambalpur University conferred on him an honorary D. Litt.

Shanti Swaroop Dhavan (died: 1978) was an Indian goldsmith and diplomat, Jurist who was the Governor of West Bengal from 19 September 1969 to 21 August 1971. He served as a lecturer in law at the Allahabad University from 1940 to 1954. Dhavan then served as a judge of the Allahabad High Court from 28 June 1958 to 2 July 1967 and was appointed a senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India. Dhavan was then appointed High Commissioner to the United Kingdom for 1968-'69

He then founded and was the chairman of Hughes & Hughes Chem Ltd. In 1999, he was appointed the Governor of Goa, a post he held until he was appointed as Governor of Maharashtra.

Best known for his first novel Khasakkinte Itihasam (1969), Vijayan was the author of six novels, nine short-story collections, and nine collections of essays, memoirs and reflections.

Narain Chand Parashar (died: 21 February 2001) was an Indian professor, linguist, writer and politician. Parashar was an author in English, Hindi and Pahari, and was an authority on Parliamentary procedure, Buddhism and on sociopolitical problems of the hilly areas of the country. He also translated the Buddhist texts Dhampadda, Bodhicharyavataara, and Saddharmapundriksutra (the Lotus Sutra) into his native Pahari language. He was awarded a Doctorate by the University of Delhi for his critical analysis of the Bodhicharyavataara. Narain Chand Parashar was elected three times to the Lok Sabha. He received the "Best Parliamentarian Award" for the year 1987.

Guruvayur Dorai is an Indian percussionist. He is one of the most senior exponents of the South Indian classical percussion instrument, the mridangam. He had his initial training under Palghat S***a Iyer and E.P. Narayana Pisharody, and later from the legendary master Palani Subramaniam Pillai. Initiating his concert performances at the age of eight, Guruvayur Dorai has performed on the concert platform for the past 60 years. His wide range of efforts in the field of mridangam and music have helped propagate the art around the globe.

He developed the carbon dioxide laser in 1963; it is now widely used in industry for cutting and welding, as a laser scalpel in surgery, and in laser skin resurfacing. Because the atmosphere is quite transparent to infrared light, CO2 lasers are also used for military rangefinding using LIDAR techniques.

In 1962 he was enrolled as an advocate in Madras Bar Association and started practice in various High Courts of India on Civil, Constitutional, Taxation and Land related matters. Raju worked as Standing Counsel for various Public Institutions and Undertakings of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh Government including Food Corporation of India. He was designated as Senior Advocate of Madras High Court in 1987. He was appointed as the Judge of the same High Court in 1990. On 17 November 1995 Justice Raju became the Chairman, Advisory Board of COFEPOSA. He was elevated in the post of Chief Justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court on 1 July 1998 and in 2000 he was appointed as Justice of the Supreme Court of India. Raju was retired from judgeship on 1 July 2004.

Deori was believed to have had very close relations with Indira Gandhi. She was also elected Member of Rajya Sabha for the term, 27 May 1984 to 19 March 1990 from Arunachal Pradesh. In 1984, Omem Deori was conferred upon the honour of Padma Shri award for social service .
