একজন সাধারন মহৎ ব্যক্তি এবং রাজনৈতিক নেতার মধ্যে প্রধান পার্থক্য হল- মহৎ লোক জনগণকে উপকার করার পর গোপনীয়তা বজায় রাখে,
কিন্তু রাজনীতিবিদ প্রচার করে !
প্রকৃত পরোপকারী ব্যক্তি উদ্দেশ্য ছাড়াই স্বইচ্ছায় মানুষের উপকার করে, কিন্তু রাজনীতিবিদ উদ্দেশ্য প্রণোদিতভাবে শুধুমাত্র নিজেকে প্রচার করার উদ্দেশ্যে মানুষের উপকার করে I

প্রকৃত পরোপকারী ব্যক্তি :- সাধারণত ব্যক্তিগত নৈতিকতা, সহানুভূতি বা মানবিক মূল্যবোধ থেকে কাজ করেন। তার কাজের পেছনে সরাসরি কোনো লাভের হিসাব থাকে না।

রাজনীতিবিদ :- জনসেবা করেন, কিন্তু তার সাথে রাজনৈতিক লক্ষ্য (ভোট, জনপ্রিয়তা, ক্ষমতা ধরে রাখা) জড়িত থাকে। এটা খারাপও নয়—কারণ গণতন্ত্রে জনগণের সমর্থন পাওয়াই তার কাজের অংশ।
