Carlos Gutierrez, former U.S. Commerce Secretary and ex-Kellogg CEO, shared his thoughts on U.S.-China tariffs on Squawk Box Asia today. His comments followed a strong statement from China’s Commerce Ministry regarding the potential additional 50% U.S. tariff: “If the U.S. side is bent on having its way, China will follow to the end.”

➡️ "The big decisions for CEOs are investing, and allocating capital for the long term. Do I build a plant in the U.S. because tariffs are going to keep me out, or I'm going to have to pay tariffs?" he said.

➡️ “If President Trump wants to send a message that these tariffs are open to negotiation, he needs to do something before Wednesday, before the 9th,” he added. The reciprocal tariffs are set to take effect on April 9.
