How do I learn Embedded Systems Programming?

Hello everyone,

I keep thinking about people that are being very interested in the embedded system field, but doesn’t seems to have a clear idea on how to get there. However, one must be willing to work hard and have lot of passion for learning, have a guidance of best instructor, who can really give breakthrough into Embedded systems.

Embedded Software Learning path:

1 - Get solid C programming skills (you should do practice, practice, practice…., gum yourself to a chair)
2 - Get a solid "Real Time Operating System" (RTOS) background by learning thoroughly Embedded Linux.
4 - Once you're familiar with C and Embedded Linux(around 6 month/1 year), learn full Linux as a work environment: like compilers, debuggers, etc
3 - Buy a cheap embedded linux System : Rasberry Pi or BeagleBoard and run Embedded linux on it.
5 – Learn some basics of Sockets and TCP/IP, it will make you to understand present day of connectivity for communications, and try to run client-sever on your board and a PC.
5 - Team up with a colleague that is very good at electronics. Learn from him

Result: Within 1 - 2 years, with a budget of less than 1 Lack rupees, you will become a great embedded system programmer.
