Bridging Classical and Quantum Worlds: Honoring the 2025 Nobel Prize Winner in Physics :

SCOSH Club proudly acknowledges the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics, awarded to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret, and John M. Martinis for their groundbreaking discovery of macroscopic quantum-mechanical tunneling and energy quantization in electrical circuits.

Their pioneering research provided the first clear evidence that quantum phenomena can manifest in macroscopic systems, not just in microscopic particles.
Through the use of superconducting circuits containing Josephson junctions, the laureates demonstrated that electric currents can tunnel through energy barriers and that these circuits possess discrete, quantized energy states—a hallmark of quantum behavior.

This discovery established a profound link between quantum mechanics and electrical engineering, bridging the classical and quantum domains.
It also laid the conceptual and experimental foundation for modern quantum technologies, including superconducting qubits used in quantum computation.
