Import Export Code (IEC) is a registration required for businesses that deal with import/export activities in India. It is a 10-digit code that is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), which comes under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India.
Post IEC registration, businesses must comply with the regulations and guidelines of the DGFT, maintain proper records of their transactions, and renew their IEC as and when required.
