Jammu & Kashmir's Minister for Education, Health & Medical Education, and Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi and reviewed key issues related to the education sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed matters concerning Teacher Education Institutions and assessed the progress of school and higher education initiatives across the Union Territory. Discussions also focused on teacher training, institutional development, skill enhancement, and other measures aimed at strengthening the education ecosystem.
The ministers noted encouraging trends in student enrolment and educational outcomes in Jammu & Kashmir. They emphasized that continued collaboration between the Central Government and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir would help expand access to quality education, improve employability, and create greater opportunities for students and youth across the region.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both governments towards advancing educational reforms and fostering inclusive growth in the education sector.

Umer Jaan, District President Congress Pulwama, meets LG Manoj Sinha; submits memorandum on Pulwama’s key public welfare demands
Pulwama: Umer Jaan, District President, Indian National Congress Pulwama, called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Shri Manoj Sinha and submitted a detailed memorandum seeking urgent intervention in developmental and public welfare issues of District Pulwama.
On behalf of the residents, Umer Jaan raised 13 pressing demands before the LG, focusing on healthcare, infrastructure, public safety and basic amenities.
*Key demands submitted include:*
1. *Fire & Emergency Services*: Sanctioning of a Fire & Emergency Service Vehicle for Fire Service Unit, Pinglena Pulwama.
2. *Healthcare Upgradation*: Upgradation of NTPHC Pinglena with better infrastructure, staff and medical facilities. Establishment of a Maternity Hospital at Sirnoo, Pulwama.
3. *Road Connectivity*: Upgradation of Ring Road Pulwama, Kaigan to Panchayat Ghar Katipora Chersoo, Chandgam via 4-Way Payer Karewa to Tahab Bangladesh, and Saidapora Tahab via Arihal to Khambri. Macadamization of Internal Roads at Koil and Dogripora Kawani.
4. *Bridge Project*: Early resolution and timely completion of Dattpora/Reshipora Bridge Project.
5. *Public Utilities*: Transfer of Old Court Complex to District Administration for public use, installation of ATM at Qasbayar Rajpora.
6. *Water & Irrigation*: Strengthening of PHE and Irrigation facilities through establishment/upgradation of drought pumps at Gulzarpora, Chersoo, Barsoo, Hari, Kawani, and Dogripora.
Umer Jaan stated that these demands are vital for improving public safety, healthcare access, road connectivity and basic infrastructure across Pulwama. He requested the LG’s office to consider these genuine public concerns on priority and issue directions for early implementation.
The LG gave a patient hearing and assured appropriate action on the submitted issues.
