To strengthening the agricultural sector Legislature Javid Baigh approved 2.6 crosses for lift irrigation scheme Sheeri Baramulla

Baramulla 04 June 2026,With the aim of strengthening and boost the agricultural sector of Sheeri Narvaw Baramulla and providing better irrigation facilities to the farmers, a huge amount of Rs 2 Crores and 60 lakh has been approved for the repair, rehabilitation and further expansion of the Lift Irrigation Scheme Sheeri Baramulla through the efforts of Member of Assembly Baramulla Javid Hassan Baigh. This amount has been provided under the Union Territory Capex Fund.
Under this project, steps will be taken to repair various parts of the lift irrigation scheme, rehabilitate old and dilapidated structures, improve the water delivery system and increase the efficiency of the scheme. This is expected to directly benefit hundreds of farmers in Sheeri, Fatehgarh and adjoining areas.
Local farmers and public circles welcomed the move, saying that the lift irrigation scheme had been awaiting repair and expansion for the past several years. Due to technical glitches and inadequate facilities in the scheme, adequate water was not being supplied to agricultural land, resulting in difficulties for farmers.
Member of Assembly Javed Hassan Baigh said on the occasion that the development of the agriculture sector of Baramulla is among his priorities and all possible steps are being taken to solve the problems faced by the farmers. He said that through the approved funds, not only the existing system will be made functional but also the expansion of the scheme will provide irrigation facility to more agricultural areas.

He directed the concerned departments to start work on the project as soon as possible so that the farmers can get its benefits in time. The local residents expressed the hope that the completion of this project will increase agricultural production in the area and the economic condition of the farmers will be further strengthened.
