Moulvi Stop, Lal Bazar - 20th August, 2019.
I landed in Srinagar on 11th August and stayed until the 23rd. These were some of the scenes:
1) Managed to get a cab at the airport and had to show my boarding pass at 7 checkpoints starting from Humhama to Lal Bazar.
2) This was the simplest of Eids that has ever been celebrated in Kashmir.
3) Helicopters and Drones have been monitoring the old city (downtown) constantly to track any kind of gatherings and protests.
4) People are confused, angry, helpless, and dejected.
5) People with access to active phone lines get to witness hundreds of people everyday - just for a phone call.
6) You need to go to the airport to book/reschedule your tickets - costs you half of your day’s time.
7) Downtown chu lagbhag 90% band - barricades everywhere. Maisuma chune kaensi wuchmuti 5 August paeth.
8- Early Mornings and Late Evenings are the best times to travel across Srinagar.
9) Mass kaasan wael have been replaced by Kaeshir mass kaasan wael - hum chikh saeree kaedmit. Wariahan alaaqan manz chune akh naeyud te.
10) The daily Greater Kashmir newspaper has been reduced to 2 pages.
