Properties Worth ₹3.5 Crore Linked to Drug Trade Seized by Srinagar Police

Srinagar, June 6th : In a major action against narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police on Saturday attached properties worth nearly ₹3.5 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers under the NDPS Act as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.

Officials said Police Station Nigeen attached a house and land valued at around ₹1.30 crore in the Hazratbal area, while Police Station Soura seized a residential property worth approximately ₹2.20 crore in Upper Soura.

Police investigations found that the assets were allegedly acquired through proceeds from illegal drug trafficking. The properties have been frozen, preventing their sale, transfer, lease, or any other transaction until further legal orders.

Police said the move reflects its continued commitment to dismantling the narcotics network by targeting assets generated through the drug trade and reiterated its appeal for public cooperation in reporting drug-related offences.

Jammu, 06th June 2026: “We are breaking the chain of the drug trade at every single link. Whether it’s cross-border smugglers, peddlers or the terror financiers- there is no safe haven. Our agencies are hunting down every narco-terrorist and permanently dismantling their networks,” the Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha said on Saturday. He observed that over the last nearly two months, citizens from all walks of life, have walked streets across the Union Territory, shared the pain of affected families, and energized our youth.

“Our goal is to foster a grassroots resistance against drug abuse and end narco-terrorism,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor was addressing the public rally at Kishtwar. The campaign has so far covered 19 districts of Jammu Kashmir, reinforcing a collective commitment to eradicate drugs from villages and towns.

“For 56 days I have pursued a single mission of eliminating every drug smuggler and narco-terrorist from this land. Narco-terrorists and drug smugglers, whether in Pulwama or Ramban, Kulgam or Kishtwar, must understand this truth that there will be no mercy for those who ruin the future of our young generation,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He said under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, there is no mercy for narco-terrorists.

“We are ensuring that drug addicts who seek a path to recovery are provided all possible assistance and brought back to the mainstream with compassion and dignity. But compassion cannot be wasted on narco-terrorists who profit from others’ ruin, who thrive on destruction, who aim to drain the life from Kishtwar’s villages and towns. My objective is very clear that ruthless action will be taken against narco-terrorists while unwavering protection will be ensured for the innocent,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor said that although J&K Drug-Free Campaign is scheduled for 100 days, it marks the start of a much larger fight. He said eliminating this threat requires a marathon effort.

“It is a war of years, not a battle of weeks. Victory demands a unified, round-the-clock commitment. By mobilizing a whole-of-society approach, we will ensure that J&K's soil is completely cleared of drug smugglers and drug peddlers. During the Padyatra across Jammu Kashmir, I have witnessed the incredible courage of young men and women breaking the shackles of addiction to reclaim their lives. That is why we cannot fail. This campaign is a matter of the soul of Jammu Kashmir," the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor said in order to safeguard youth, the administration is embedding the spirit of this mission into the very fabric of our neighborhoods, equipping communities to recognize the warning signs, intervene early, and shield each other.

“Our teachers, Panchayat Mahila Samitis, religious leaders, and civil society groups are the torchbearers of this movement, standing united to ensure the shadow of addiction never finds a foothold in Kishtwar and across Jammu Kashmir. This is a defining moment for the future of our children. The people have spoken with one voice that narco‑terrorists must be driven from this land,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Hyderabad Tourist Declared Dead After Being Brought to SMHS Hospital

Srinagar, June 6, : A 60-year-old tourist from Hyderabad was declared brought dead after being shifted to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Mir Sajid Ali, son of Mir Mehmood, a resident of Hyderabad, who was presently staying at a hotel in Rajbagh, Srinagar.

Officials said the tourist was brought to SMHS Hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him brought dead.

The exact cause of death was not immediately known, and authorities were ascertaining the circumstances leading to the incident.

Hospital sources confirmed that the body was received at the hospital and necessary medico-legal formalities were being carried out.

Police have taken cognizance of the matter, while further proceedings are underway. [KNT]

*J&K police arrest two women from Haridwar for financial links with Pakistan*

Dehradun, Jun 6: The arrest of two women from Haridwar by Jammu and Kashmir Police for suspected financial transactions linked to Pakistan, has created a flutter among Uttarakhand security forces.

After the arrest of the first woman, Sonam, from Asafnagar village of Haridwar's Kaliyar Kotwali area, relating to her alleged financial transaction linked to Pakistan on May 26, Jammu and Kashmir Police on June 4 took her friend Pooja along with them for investigation.

The women were arrested following an input received from a man named Rahul Khan of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Khan confided to Jammu and Kashmir police about his Pakistan connection and links with Sonam and Puja in Haridwar.

He was arrested from the Lakhanpur police station area of District Kathua.

Khan, who is accused of being involved in financial transactions worth crores of rupees from Pakistan, revealed the involvement of Sonam.

According Haridwar police, Rahul Khan informed J&K Police he was operating a bank account in the name of Sonam for conducting illegal financial transactions worth crores.

According to Haridwar police, Sonam used to transfer the money to other states on behalf of Rahul Khan for a fixed commission in return.

A police official from Haridwar shared on condition of anonymity that Puja, a resident of Dhanauri in Haridwar, had introduced Sonam to a man identified as Umar, following which the latter got Sonam in touch with Rahul Khan.

Haridwar police stated that earlier Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested Sonam and took her away with them.

After this talk of the involvement of another woman working with Sonam in the illegal transactions from Pakistan surfaced. On Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrived in Dhanauri and took Puja into custody.

On Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir Police sought her transit remand for further probe. Following this, her transit remand was secured on Thursday and late in the evening Jammu and Kashmir Police left with Pooja for further probe.

Haridwar SSP Navneet Singh Bhullar confirmed that Jammu and Kashmir Police team questioned Puja and took her with them for more investigation.–(UNI)
