Shri Korta Ji Jain Tirth, Korta, Pali (Rajasthan)

Address :
Shri Korta Ji Jain Tirth, Korta, District - Pali, Rajasthan, India, Pincode : 306901.

Korta village, which has been not only a stronghold of Jain culture but also a place of pride in historical times. Today four Jain temples remain there as symbols of ancient Jain culture. Which preserves the history of its past. According to Jain historians, Korta is the place where Yugapradhan Osavansh founder Acharya Ratnaprabhasuriji along with Osian's brave Jin Chait had consecrated the temple of Lord Mahavir together in Korta on the same day. It is said that Acharya Ratnaprabhasuriji had taken two forms. In the medieval era, there was the golden age of Jain culture in Korta and its surrounding areas, Korta was a glorious city in those days where a huge Jain temple named Nahad Vasahi was built which was no less than the workmanship of Vimal Vasahi of Abu. It is said that Nahad had built ninety-nine Jain temples here, in which as per the description of Upadesh Tarangini, there is mention of seventy temples built by Nahad. Bat present most of the temples were destroyed in the era of natural calamities and communal barbarity and layers of soil were covered over them and all of them got buried underground. At the place in Korta where Nahad had built the temple, today there is a temple of Lord Mahavir. Even today in the revenue records of the state, this place is called Naharvi Kheda, from where during land erosion, grand arches and other statues of Jain temples are recovered from time to time, which are still telling the story of the glory of Jain culture in the museum of the temple. . Four Jain temples still exist in Korta. In which an ancient temple exists. In which an ancient temple is situated at a place called Naharwan Kheda, one kilometer away from Korta village. There is a Shikharbandh of Lord Mahavir in the concrete wall surrounding the temple. It is mentioned in many Jain scriptures that 70 years after the supreme Tirthankar Lord Mahavir, Shri Keshi Gandhar Shri Ratnaprabhasuriji's Karakamals were in Dhanlagna on Magh Shukla Panchami Thursday.
The second temple of Korta is built by Dhahaval, son of Nahad, in which the idol of Moolnayak Lord Rishabhdev is enshrined. The construction period of this temple is not believed to be older than the 13th century. The idol consecrated by Dhahwalji is no longer there in the temple but in its place V.S. The iconic statue is in place in 1903.
The third temple of Korta is dedicated to Lord Shri Parshvanath. There is no mention of when it was built and who got it done, but from the vague letters on one of the pillars of Navchowki of this temple, it is being estimated that this temple was also built by one of the family members of the Nahar Minister. It was renovated in the 17th century. At that time the statue of Lord Shantinath was installed in this temple but V.S. In 1959, the statue of Lord Parshvanath was installed here again which is still present. The fourth temple here is situated in the east of Korta village. Apart from being grand, this temple is also more ancient than other temples. The statue of Rishabhdev is installed in it. On either side of which are the Kausaggi statues of Shri Shantinath Bhagwan and Shri Sambhavnath Bhagwan, on which V.S. The article is from 1943. It is said that these idols had appeared from under the ground while renovating the temple of Lord Mahavir. The ancient craftsmanship of these temples is amazing, here the ancient statues and arches etc. have been displayed in a museum, which gives a sense of the antiquity of these temples of Korta, otherwise after repeated renovations, it becomes difficult to estimate the period of their construction.

In Korta, convenient Dharamshala and Bhojanshala are also arranged for the travelers by Tirtha Pedhi. To reach here, the nearest railway station is Jawaibandh, from where one has to reach Shivganj by bus, which is 12 kilometers away and from here to Korta, the eight kilometer distance has to be covered by tanga and taxi. Shivganj city is situated on National Highway 14 of Jodhpur-Ahmedabad.

Korta is a historic village and tourist destination in Pali district. Local transport is available from Sheoganj.
