On , we celebrate strong women like Sheela who take the lead in training India's future experts.

When Sheela Rani first entered the ecosystem as a trainee, she was struck by the low number of female students in her cohort. It was then and there that she decided to opt for a teaching career and to focus on female candidates interested in hands-on trades such as , , , and . “Girls and boys should be encouraged equally for all trades, especially for trades involving practical aspects”, she states. Today, Sheela works towards improving the support services offered to female candidates at her institute and supports her students in developing an ”I can do” mindset.

On , we celebrate strong women like Pooja who take the lead in training India's future experts.

Pooja R. Singh, an M.Tech. graduate in Applied Electronics, is about to complete her seventh year as a trainer at the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) in Bangalore, Karnataka. Over the course of her studies and her teaching career, Pooja was driven by her curiosity and determination to explore new opportunities for continuous learning, personal and professional development. On , we celebrate strong women like Harshada who take the lead in training India's future experts.

In her capacity as an ITI instructor in , Harshada Sunil Joshi has been training students for more than 25 years. When she first started working, she found that many institutes were ill-equipped to respond to the needs of female trainers and trainees. Since then, the situation has gradually improved. As more and more women are following Harshada’s example, the benefits of gender-balanced faculties and cohorts become evident: “Wherever there are women, huge changes in the learning atmosphere and the discipline of students are clearly visible”, she says. Along with Harshada, we encourage VET providers to facilitate -sensitive learning and training opportunities for all.
