Photos from Humanities and Social Sciences - IIT Ropar's post 20/03/2025

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences celebrated its Research Scholar Day on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Held in the department's newly furnished, state-of-the-art seminar room, the day-long program was teeming with expert talk, scholars' presentations, poster sessions, and panel discussions, interspersed with lunch and tea breaks.

A unique confluence of different disciplines (Economics, English, Linguistics, Philosophy, Psychology, and Management), the Scholar day also opened a platform for exchanging ideas between research scholars and faculties. The enthusiasm regarding the sessions was palpable. The audience witnessed seemingly divergent research areas coming together in a cogent, collaborative structure during the presentation sessions, hinting at future collaborative enterprises.

The keynote speech, delivered by Prof. Jayanti Dutta from Punjab University, focused on the philosophy of constructive thinking by frequent references to the Indian Knowledge System. The concluding panel discussion between the department's faculties, on the other hand, touched upon the issues of professional and publicational aspects of a researcher's life. This sheer expanse of the topic, all conceived in a cohesive and brief span of a single day, is what made Scholar Day a unique event in the almanac of the department of HSS.

The Research Scholar Day will be back in an expanded format, encompassing more institutes, participants, and collaboration opportunities in the coming days.
