TREK TO CAMP DHARNASI 4310M IN NANDA DEVI NATIONAL PARK

Every trekker cherish a dream to see Nand Devi Peak from close quarters. To fulfill this desire, In September 2016, I trekked to Martoli/Bilju/Milam to have a closer view of Twin peak of Maa Nanda and Sunanda but could not see any of the peak as weather was cloudy for entire period of trek. In September 2022 I went to Rishi Kund ( Sainjdhar) at 4230m above Sukhi village in Chamoli District to see the SW face of Maa Nanda and other peaks of Nanda Devi National park but failed again due to continuous spell of Rains.

At last in October 2023 I took a final chance and trekked to Dharansi /Malathuni Dhar at 4300m inside Nanda Devi National Park and this time Maa Nanda Blessed me with excellent weather and her Darshan from Saini Kharak, Satkuli Top and Malathuni Dhar on this Trek route. From Malathuni Dhar Maa Nanda is just 21 Aerial Kms Away. Would like to share that from two other closest vantage Points Auli and Dhak which are approachable by road , Maa Nanda Devi is 45 and 39 Aerial Kms away respectively.

As you Know that inner core area of Nanda Devi National Park is closed for Trekking and presently trekkers are only allowed till Dibrugheta which was another 5 kms inside the sanctuary from our farthest point of Malathuni Dhar. Note that Maa Nanda can not be seen from Dibrugheta 3600m as it is located deep down in the Rishi Ganga Gorge. So presently our farthest point Malathuni Dhar is the closest officially allowed point West of Nanda Devi for grand Darshan of Maa Nanda Devi.
